He will provide (Matthew 6/33-34)

Lauder church was provided for in the most wonderful way this Sunday.   A sudden and unfortunate set of circumstances meant both minister and organist were unable to attend Lauder Kirk and with only half an hour’s notice.  Elders and congregational members stepped up to the mark in leading  praise and prayer in the absence of a minister, but most notably our organ still resounded with the most beautiful music to lead our worship.

As Mr. Calder was welcoming the congregation at the front door and explaining that the service may not go ahead, a party of four Dutch tourists arrived to join our worship.  On hearing our dilemma, the first member of the party offered ‘My wife plays the organ’.  The lady was duly invited to ascend to the organ loft where she quickly familiarised herself with stops and keyboards before opening with a welcoming hymn, just as the clock reached 11:30.  The music was wonderful, and considering that she had never seen CH3 in her life before, the note perfect renditions were all the more remarkable.   It turned out that Will, from Utrecht and visiting Lauder for only a few days, is resident organist in her own local church.
